The Rotary Club Of Canberra were the founding hosts of Circus Quirkus. Circus Quirkus has been putting smiles on the faces of thousands of special needs and disadvantaged children for the past 22 years, due to the kind generosity of local businesses and individuals.
The purpose of the event is two-fold:
Firstly, Circus Quirkus brings fun and respite into the lives of thousands of children who, through no fault of their own, miss out on so much that most of us take for granted. They come from over 60 local welfare, disability & care organizations. Circus Quirkus gives them a day they’ll never forget, with some of the world’s best performers astounding them with acrobatics, clowning, juggling, death-defying stunts and lots of comedy!
Secondly, the event raises much-needed funds for local projects. For example, this year will help Foodbank collect surplus, salvaged and donated food and distribute it to local people in need, as well as assist Our Place, a local program which provides safe accommodation, education, skills, training and work experience to local youth at risk of homelessness.
